BIOMETRICS. Director's Statement
I am excited to announce the release of "BIOMETRICS," the third installment in the "HUMAN CONCEPTS" series. This new short film marks a bold departure in my artistic style, pushing the boundaries of aesthetics to explore the digital essence of modern life.
"BIOMETRICS" delves into the pervasive influence of the internet. A realm of pixels, colors and dark corners, where what is designed to connect us also has the potential to destroy the very fabric of our cultures. In this film, I aimed to capture the dichotomy of the internet: the vibrant, digital-feel promoted by social media platforms and gaming, juxtaposed against the stark reality of data extraction and the addiction it fosters. This digital landscape, as I perceive it, is a wild, uncharted territory that shapes our identities and behaviors in profound ways.
Through a mix of intense digital-heavy visuals and a dynamic soundtrack by Chicago-based artist MOONRVNGR, "BIOMETRICS" immerses viewers in the surreal and often disturbing experience of our online lives. The film is an exploration of how the internet imposes arbitrary standards on beauty, on behavior, and even childhood innocence, profoundly transforming our human interaction.
I never done something like this. Pushing past my usual comfort zone, I embraced the full "digitalness" that defines today's internet experience. The result is a vivid representation of the randomness and insanity inherent in our digital interactions.
"BIOMETRICS" is designed to take you on a journey through the internet: a place of contrast and contradiction, where the promise of connectivity clashes with the reality of division. It’s a wild and crazy ride, accompanied by a soundtrack that perfectly encapsulates the digital feel of our era.
As always, I truly thank you for watching and truly hope this simple and short clip made you reflect in one way or another. If not, it’s totally fine too. The internet is random and does not care.
From Barcelona with love,
Andres.
