Updates on Human Concepts, 2024

It’s been 6 months since the HUMAN CONCEPTS project began. And a lot has changed since then. My distribution strategy. My list of episodes. The programs and softwares. The themes and ideas. The state of the world. The production and distribution process of this project has been as experimental and free-flow as the films themselves. I’m writing this to briefly explain where the project stands, and where we are heading.

PROJECT RECAP

HUMAN CONCEPTS is an anthology of short-films. A series. Each short film, approximately 3 to 5 minutes each, revolves around a different topic, issue, or idea. One human concept per film. It’s an experiment. I’m creating films as I go. What I see. What I experience. What inspires me. There are ideas that cannot be expressed easily. AI applied to filmmaking allows for these complex ideas to be expressed more easily.

WORKFLOW WITH A.I.

In a way, I’m just performing the tasks of a Writer and a Curator on this project. I spend most of the time writing the concepts. The ideas. The visuals in my head that better explain certain concepts. That’s the first part. The second part is all about Curation. I pick and choose which images I want. And I edit them together with the music and flow of my preference. It’s a simple Writing and Curating process that has become almost therapeutic to me. It has allowed me to express my thoughts in a way I never thought possible.

HYBRID DISTRIBUTION STRATEGY

Once the films are completed, another challenge begins: strategically distributing them. So far, we’ve developed a twofold approach. Most of the films are published online in chronological order, each with its own number in the series: I, II, III, IV, and so on. However, within the series, there are also “Singles”... Special films that I consider the most visually striking and impactful. These aren’t released online. Instead, they’re premiered at film festivals, art galleries, and select digital or physical venues. This strategy allows us to showcase Human Concepts in prestigious spaces, engaging diverse audiences and ensuring each film reaches its full potential.

HUMAN CONCEPTS IN 2025

Looking ahead, the journey continues into 2025 with new short films and fresh concepts. The aim is to evolve with the times, using the latest AI tools and software to bring each vision to life. Every film will reflect the technology and cultural moment of its creation, culminating in a series where the final episode is the most lifelike and immersive. Additionally, we’re exploring the idea of producing and selling two exclusive short films as NFTs and digital products. While still in development, this initiative represents another layer of innovation, blending art and technology in ways that push the boundaries of traditional filmmaking.

CONCLUSION

This is Human Concepts. Whether it spans 10 or 20 films, or more; this project remains an experiment in storytelling and social activism. As part of dream stuff, we will continue to make films that feel authentic to their time and place, collaborating with artists and organizations who share our ideas. This series doesn’t really have 1 category. It adapts and evolves as we explore what cinema and digital art can achieve together. Human Concepts carries on into 2025. Here we go.

From Barcelona with love,

Andres.
